Previously, Hunter Biden was facing federal gun charges in Delaware. They allege he illegally purchased a revolver in October 2018 after falsely claiming not to use drugs, the Guardian reports.
If convicted of the above crimes, Hunter Biden could face up to 17 years in prison.
Hunter Biden is accused of failing to pay at least $1.4 million in federal taxes from 2016 to 2019, according to the 56-page indictment. He adds that Hunter Biden spent millions of dollars on an extravagant lifestyle instead of paying taxes.
The indictment alleges that Hunter Biden spent more than $1.8 million in 2018 alone, including taking $772,000 in cash, paying approximately $383,000 to women and spending approximately $151,000 on clothing and accessories.
Congressional Republicans are also trying to link Joe Biden to his son’s scandals. The House of Representatives is expected to vote next week on whether to open a criminal investigation into Joe Biden, although no evidence has so far emerged that the president took bribes or used influence peddling, which some Republicans accuse him of.
