LIMITED TIME ⟩ McDonald’s brings a plant-based burger to Estonia

Growing interest in plant-based food options has also brought a new McPlant burger with a plant-based protein patty to Estonian McDonald’s restaurants. This protein patty was created in collaboration with Beyond Meat and starting today, January 10, it will be available for a limited time in all McDonald’s restaurants in Estonia.

“McDonald’s listens to its customers’ feedback and constantly updates its menu to offer a versatile selection of food for different taste preferences. We are excited to kick off 2024 with the plant-based McPlant burger. McPlant delivers the iconic burger taste of McDonald’s, which customers already know and love, in a new form. We see that people’s interest in plant-based options is growing and we are happy that now our customers in Estonia have the opportunity to try it too. McPlant is initially available for a limited time and we invite all visitors to try it, regardless of whether they prefer plant-based foods in their usual menu or are true meat lovers,” said Vladimir Janevski, general manager of McDonald’s Baltics.

The arrival of the McPlant burger in Estonia was also warmly welcomed by the Plant Tuesday campaign. “According to an opinion poll, more than 40% of Estonian residents are reducing their meat consumption, so the McPlant burger is a good way to eat more vegetables in a delicious way,” commented Kristina Mering, founder of Taimse Teisipäv.

According to Mering, the McPlant burger, which has become popular among meat lovers, comes to the market at a great time, because in January Estonian consumers prefer to add more plant-based products to their menu.

The McPlant burger patty is made from plant-based ingredients such as peas, rice, potatoes and beetroot and was developed in collaboration with Beyond Meat, a global leader in plant-based meat. The result is a tender, juicy burger with a meat-like texture and flavor. In addition to steak, the McPlant burger contains classic McDonald’s ingredients such as tomato, fresh lettuce, pickles, onions, mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise and cheddar cheese. The steak between the burgers is cooked using the same grill as the other meat and egg burgers on the menu. This is important information for people who follow the principles of veganism or vegetarianism.

McPlant is available in all McDonald’s restaurants in Estonia from 10 January for two months or until stocks last.
