LISTEN | Mati Lilliallik talks about the participants in the races, behind the scenes, the motivation and the profitability of the organization

The record number of participants in the autumn race is more than 23,000 people, and this is an extremely powerful result on an Estonian scale. The program talks about the joys and worries of organizing running races, behind the scenes, the budget, feedback from runners, and also takes a look at the history, i.e. how the Tallinn marathon weekend managed to become so great.

So what brings people to racetracks and drives organizers to put on events in such a way that there’s no complaining about the lack of them? What does it mean to organize a large-scale running event from the main organizer’s point of view?

We’ll find out how much modern running is a competition, how much it supports exercise, and whether it’s also just a nice social event with entertainment. Let’s also touch on children’s and youth sports a little and take a look at the near future.
