“Mary Poppins” actress Glynis Johns has died at the age of 100.

Glynis Johns was born on 5 October 1923 in the Republic of South Africa. His father was an actor and his mother was a pianist. In a career spanning eight decades on stage and screen, Johns appeared in more than 60 films and 30 plays. In the beloved musical Mary Poppins (1964), Johns played Mrs. Winifred Banks, his best-known role.

The actress’s manager Mitch Clem told Variety that Glynis stood out for his talent and sense of humor. “He loved acting and influenced millions of people. He shined for 100 years,” Clem said. “The day Glynis died was a dark day for Hollywood. Not only do we mourn our beloved actress, but her death also marks the end of a golden era in Hollywood,” People reports.

Johns died Jan. 4 at a nursing home in Los Angeles.
