Former world number one Andy Murray (ATP No. 42) was limited to one match at the ATP 250 tournament in Brisbane when he lost to Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (ATP No. 14) in the opening round.
Murray won the opening set 6:4 in three quarters of an hour, lost serve 4:4 in the second, suffered a break, but then could no longer hold serve and lost the set 5:7 in an hour. In the first two games of the decisive set the Scotsman won only one point, lost 0:4 and in the end lost 2:6.
Dimitrov served 13 aces and won 82% of the points played with the first serve, the Bulgarian committed 36 abductions and 13 unforced errors, Murray, who last entered the court at the end of October before on New Year’s Day, he had 17 abductions and 19 unforced errors.
