Neit-Eerik Nestor: The Estonian musical year was super productive | Music

With the help of almost 40 music lovers, the National Radio Broadcasting Culture Portal has once again lined up the best albums of the ending year. According to Neit-Eerik Nestor, editor of the cultural portal, the year of Estonian music was very productive and there were many debuts.

This time the top three were conquered by foreign artists: American rapper Andre 3000 was named best album of the year jazz-ilik solo album “New Blue Sun”.

“When this news came out, I didn’t want to believe it at first, it seemed funny, but it was and it was a good record and it deservedly came in first place,” commented Neit-Eerik Nestor.

“Both Yves Tumor, Tirzah and Andre, who hasn’t been very active, are critics’ favorite artists. It’s difficult for them to release a record that doesn’t reach high in many charts, and they tend to always be in the Estonian charts. It’s not a bad thing, but it takes some of the magic away from it,” Nestor thought.

According to Nestor, the Estonian musical year was very positive. “There have been so many things released. I haven’t made any statistics, but I think you could make a pretty long list if you just lined up the albums released in Estonia this year, which is already a great result,” he thought.

“A lot of good debut albums: Maria Kallastu, Boipepperoni, Lil Till – fresh new winds. In terms of productivity, it was a very good year and I hope it continues. And I hope everyone who came to the arena, who also have enough energy and strength.”
