In the last match of the year, Mistra defeated Tapa | Hand ball

This year’s men’s handball championship concluded on Thursday with the match between SK Tapa and Mistra. Wednesday’s winners Servit and Viljandi were joined by Mistra, who defeated the Tapa team 34:21 (17:12).

The hosts Tapa opened the scoring with the sending off of Trivo Vaigurand. Mistra, this year’s cup winner, scored the first goal two minutes later when Serhii Orlovskyi converted a shot. In the 5th minute Mistra was ahead 3:1 and in the 10th minute 6:4.

Tapa remained diligently on Mistra’s heels, in the 15th minute Jan-Egert Valdmann scored to make it 7:8, and a minute later Vaigurand scored the equalizer at 8:8. The visiting team did not let the draw last long. Five minutes before half-time, Kaspar Lees scored to give Mistra a three-goal lead. With a powerful sprint, Mistra won the first half with the score of 17:12.

In the first two minutes of the second half Lees and Arno Vare led Mistra with eight goals, the score was 20:12. The score increased, but the distance remained the same: in the 45th minute the scoreboard showed 25:17 in favor of Mistra. Mistra also exceeded the threshold of 10 goals ahead and so in the 55th minute the score was 31:18. The match was declared over at 34:21.

Kaspar Lees was Mistra’s most productive bowler with 10 goals. Serhii Orlovskyi scored six goals and Arno Vare five goals. SK Tapa’s most successful goalscorer was Marcus Rättel with five goals. Ilja Kosmirak scored four goals.
