No socks! Saudi Arabia’s football clubs treat their stars to Bugattis, luxury watches and trips to a tropical island

A tabloid The sun revealed what stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez, who recently left Europe’s top leagues for Saudi Arabia, could expect under the Christmas tree, citing luxury goods specialists who deal with Middle Eastern elite on condition of anonymity.

According to that source, some of the top teams in the Saudi Arabian leagues gifted players with luxury cars such as the Ferrari SF90 Spider, Bugatti and Lamborghini. Also on the gift list are ultra-luxury £300,000 (€345,000) watches from companies such as Jacob and Bugatti Chiron.

“We have the best stars who deserve rare things. We want to show them that they are treated as unique, because they are too,” the source said. “Some players and members of the coaching staff will have a wonderful Christmas.”

He added that the clubs also ordered large quantities of Yves Saint Lauren luxury bags and Globe-Trotter suitcases, which retail for £5,500 (€6,300).

Another source, whose job is to help businessmen and VIPs make purchases, said he had been given a £3.1m (€3.5m) budget by a club to ensure their best friends received some nice dresses for Christmas to ventilate a little.

Among the bonuses distributed to players are, for example, trips to Paris and stays in the most expensive hotels in the fashion capital (the price of the Four Seasons George V Hotel in Paris is 17,000 euros per night) and on private islands in the Maldives .
