O’Sullivan was coming from a deficit against Trump in the final | Billiards and billiards

Snooker world number one Ronnie O’Sullivan earned his third career World Grand Prix victory on Sunday by beating world number two Judd Trump in the final.

However, victory in the 41st ranking tournament of the 48-year-old Briton’s career did not come easily, as Trump started with four straight frame wins, even surpassing the so-called century mark in the second frame. O’Sullivan then responded with two wins, after which the men traded winning frames until the score was 6–3.

However, O’Sullivan then had great momentum and won as many as six frames in a row, coming within touching distance of winning the tournament. Trump then won by one, but O’Sullivan shot a 79 in the 17th frame to take a 10–7 overall victory.

O’Sullivan scored more than 100 points four times in the final, Trump went on a streak of three hundred consecutive goals.

“Judd jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and I thought I was going to have a busy night here. I managed to get some photos in the afternoon, which gave me some optimism at 3-5,” said the world number one. “You always have to fight Judd because he is a warrior. In my eyes he is the favorite for this year’s World Cup.”

The World Snooker Championship will be held in Sheffield, England and will begin on April 20. Belgian Luca Brecel, fourth in the world rankings, will defend his title, O’Sullivan has won seven times.
