Over 350,000 art lovers visited the Estonian Art Museum last year

Over the course of the year, the number of visitors to the Estonian Art Museum has increased significantly. If in 2022 art enthusiasts entered our museums 213,934 times, in 2023 there were 138,770 more visitors.

According to Sirje Helme, general director of the Estonian Art Museum, the great dedication of all employees is behind the increase in the number of visitors. “This is certainly a coincidence of several good circumstances: the reopening of the Niguliste Museum, a significant program of exhibitions in all museums and numerous additional programs for our visitors, from young children to the elderly,” Helme said.

Last year was special for the museum, because on March 11, the new glass elevator and mezzanine floor of the Niguliste Museum, a branch of the Estonian Art Museum, was inaugurated. Following reconstruction work that lasted almost a year, the grandstand of the Small Chapel was also opened as a novelty. The largest development project of the Estonian Art Museum in the last ten years «Closer to the sky! Niguliste Tower with Glass Elevator” was announced as Tallinn’s tourist attraction of 2023 and received the Heritage Protection Board’s annual award in the “New in Historic Environment” category.
