OVERVIEW ⟩ In Finland the tick vaccine is increasingly administered free of charge, in Estonia you still have to pay for it

The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THS) has added several regions across the country to the national tick-borne encephalitis vaccination plan. It is now possible, for those who wish, to get vaccinated for free in Tohmajärvi in North Karelia, in Kuusimäki-Lavola in the municipality of Lappeenranta, in the Bromarvi region in southern Finland, in Karhusaari on the outskirts of Helsinki and in Kemi kand in Lapland. Several regions in northern and southern Finland are considered risk areas for tick-borne encephalitis.

Vaccination is free for those who have registered permanent residence in the region, as well as for those who have a rural home or are staying there long-term. The first three injections are subsidized by the state, but you have to pay for additional doses after years. The vaccine shot is given to people aged three years and older.
