Voting for the first round of the presidential elections begins in Finland | foreign country

Preliminary voting for the first round of the presidential elections will begin on Wednesday at polling stations located in Finland and abroad.

Pre-voting in Finland lasts until Tuesday. You can vote abroad until Saturday. The first round of the presidential elections will be held on January 28.

Each county has at least one pre-voting precinct, larger counties have several. Normally, all early voting locations are open on all seven voting days.

The presidential election is likely to require a second round as no candidate is expected to get more than 50% of the vote in the first round.

Preliminary voting for the second round begins on January 31, and election day is February 11.

In the previous presidential elections in 2018, around half of voters exercised their right to vote. Six years ago, just one round was enough, as Sauli Niinistö garnered 64.3% of the votes in the first round and thus directly won a new mandate.
