The new depot allows the operational work of the command to be brought to a new level and offers rescuers a modern working environment. Until now, the half-hundred members of the commando have had to work in increasingly cramped garages since their days on the state farm.

In the first phase of construction, the building box was completed in the first half of this year. In the second construction phase, the external track networks were completed, the building facade with insulation was created, windows and doors were installed, as well as heating and other technical systems. The construction work of the second construction phase was carried out by OÜ Kamo Ehitus.

The cost of the second phase of the investment was 657,000 euros, co-financed by the Estonian External Borders Program of the European Union.

Kalvi Kõva, member of the board of directors of the voluntary association of Rõuge sprayers, founded in 1905, said that the new depot will make Rõuge safer. “We can already see that the new infrastructure will bring young people into the commando ranks,” she said. “In the next few years we plan to complete the internal works on the second and third floors as well, so that we can start serving the population of Rõuge as a community center in the best conditions.”

As part of the Rougerescue project, a rescue exercise was conducted at the school in Rõuge, storm risks were discussed in the rescue forum and fire prevention was carried out in the homes of Rõuge.
