Roma wins narrowly in De Rossi’s first match | Soccer

Club legend Daniele De Rossi, Roma Football Club’s new manager, made a successful start to his tenure with a 2-1 home win against Verona on Saturday evening.

Roma started the match quickly and took the lead already in the 19th minute when Stephan El Shaarawy beat the defenders and then played the ball to Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian striker sends Verona’s ball into the net and gives the home team the lead.

The success was doubled already six minutes later, when El Shaarawy again skilfully played the ball to his teammate. Lorenzo Pellegrini knocked down the ball and struck with his left foot to give Roma a 2-0 lead.

In the second half, Verona was awarded a penalty, but in the 64th minute Milan Djuric hit the ball hard from 11 metres. However, the visitors got on target in the 76th minute when Michael Folorunsho sent the ball into the goal with a wonderful and unexpected long-range shot. However, the equalizer did not arrive and Roma won 2-1 on the debut of the new coach.

De Rossi was appointed manager of the club following Tuesday’s decision to part ways with Jose Mourinho.

After earning just one point in the last three league games, Roma ended their bad run and continue in eighth place in Serie A with 32 points. Bologna, seventh in the table, has the same points.

At the top of the table is Milan Inter, who have collected 51 points in 20 days. In second place Juventus with 49 points, in third place Milan with 42 points, who will face Udinese on Saturday evening. The last place in the Champions League is Fiorentina with 34 points.
