Tõnis Niinemets opened the semi-final of the Estonian song with a critical joke: Kaja Kallas cannot give 10 million euros to teachers because Siim Kallas remembers nothing about the money

The semi-finals of the Estonian Song began tonight, where the five finalists who will continue to compete will be determined. The winner will represent Estonia at Eurovision.

Presenter Tõnis Niinemets spoke to Grete Kulla in her opening segment and decided to draw attention to the current problems in Estonia in the opening minutes of the show. “I would say the concerns are going too far,” Niinemets said.

As his first concern he indicated the teachers’ strike, which will begin on Monday. “There is 10 million missing from the salary increase. I would say 10 million missing since 1993. The prime minister cannot give the 10 million because his father (Siim Kallas – editor) does not remember where it is. If his father remembers this, he will give the 10 million to the teachers and the problem will be solved,” Niinemets said with great concern. Niinemets referred to the 10 million scandal that followed Kaja Kallas’ father, Siim Kallas, throughout his life.

The audience really liked the joke and there were great laughs.

Kroonika tells what happened in Eesti Laulu with a live blog, which can be followed HERE.
