Running a private school in Metsküla is a fallback option

Even if people associated with Metsküla do not think it is fair or right to consider the school as a private school, this possibility is also taken into consideration.

Pille Kaisel, principal of the Metsküla school, said that the community has many irons in the fire at the same time, the creation of a private school is a backup plan.

Kaisel is also a member of the non-profit organization Metsküla Kool, founded in October. “So next fall we won’t be in the same situation as last fall: there are children who want to learn, there are teachers who want to teach, but there is no school. That’s why, behind the scenes, we are still working to make the continuation of private school if there are no other options.”

To obtain training permission for a private school from the Ministry of Education and Research, the opinion of the Municipality is also necessary. “You also have to make an agreement with the municipality to allow the use of this building,” Kaisel explained.

According to Lääneranta mayor Ingvar Saare, the school building is currently used by the cultural association Metsküla. “The cultural association will not run a school there,” Saare said Thursday when presenting the plan for a private school to the city council.
