Ski coaches give free ski lessons during the week on the Järvamaa health trails

The free ski lessons are intended for children and young people who have never skied before or adults whose last skiing was years ago. Training takes place in almost all counties, on more than 40 ski slopes in total, which are maintained daily by the slope masters of the Estonian health trails. Over the course of seven days, almost 50 coaches will share their wisdom, including former Estonian ski peaks Kristina Šmigun-Vähi, Tatjana Mannima, Raul Olle, Peeter Kümmel, Anti Saarepuu, Kaili Ots and Vahur Teppan.

At the same time, Ain-Alar Juhanson, the rider of the Ironman Tallinn triathlon, will give ski lessons in Paides on Sunday, January 21 at 12.00. On Monday, Wednesday at 3.30 pm and Friday at 3.00 pm, Ambla SK coach Reimo Kaasiku and Tatjana Mannima await ski enthusiasts on the slopes of Turi on Monday and Friday at 3.00 pm.

Furthermore, several longer ski tours for experienced skiers are planned this year, including the well-known actor Veikko Täär and former skier Timo Simonlatser, among others.

Kristjan Koll, CEO of the Estonian Ski Association, which holds its two ski lessons in Harjumaa, is pleasantly surprised by how great the public interest is in the “100 ski lessons” project. “Last year we had more than 1,200 people at ski training, which is good evidence of the great interest in skiing among the people,” Koll said. “That’s why our goal is to continue the mission and encourage the next beginners to leave home, so that they can take part in the beautiful, perfectly prepared winter health trails distributed throughout Estonia. I believe there are also many who have caught their passion for skiing from this project, which took them to the Tartu Marathon.”
