Teenagers who committed a double murder were arrested in Latvia

Last Saturday the police were called to Akmeņu Street in Rēzekness, where the body of a man born in 1958 was found in an apartment and two other men born in 1969 were injured.

One of the victims was injured so badly that doctors were unable to save his life and he died. The second victim was taken to hospital.

On the same day, as part of an operational investigation, police arrested a teenager born in 2009 and two teenagers born in 2008, suspected of aggravated murder.

A forensic examination was ordered to find out the circumstances and motives of the crime.

On Monday, the court decided to take the two teenagers into custody.

The police initiated a criminal case under section 118 (killing of two or more persons) of the Penal Code.

For this crime, adults are punished with life imprisonment or 15 to 20 years, minors with less.

The criminal law does not allow imprisonment for more than ten years for minors for particularly serious crimes.
