Tesla has lowered car prices in most European countries

The company reduced car prices in Germany, France, Norway and Amsterdam. In Germany, the rear-wheel drive Model Yi is selling for 42,990 euros, an approximate discount of 4.2%. The Y Long Range model now costs 49,990 euros, which is 8.1% less than the previous price.

In France, Model Yi prices fell by 6.7%, while in Amsterdam by 7.7%. In Norway the price reduction varies from 5.6 to 7.1%. Tesla shares are currently trading 1.6% lower on the US pre-market.

The news of Tesla’s price cut comes after price cuts for the Model 3 and Model Y in China. Over the past year the company has generally reduced the prices of its cars very aggressively. Tesla’s operations in Germany have also been significantly affected by problems in the Red Sea after the Houthis launched attacks on shipping for which it is a key transportation route. Therefore even the basic components are missing.

Due to turmoil in the Middle East, Tesla announced last week that it would halt production of key components at its Berlin-Brandenburg plant. The lack of key parts is due to changes in major transportation routes.
