Welcome to the glamorous life of Estonian musicians! Maian and Jaagup Tuisk have recorded a new song somewhere in Kent

Jaagup Tuisk and Maian, who met in a recent collaboration, visited hosts Andi Raig and Eleryn Tiidu on Sky Plus Drive Time. The young musicians recently passed important landmarks in their lives: they both wrote and defended their thesis.

When questioned by Eleryn, Maian describes that the day after the interview, he gets on a plane and flies back to Spain to live. This time, however, he will conquer the southernmost region of the country and intends to continue his studies. “I’m going to be an exchange student. I finished college here, but now I’m going to do some of that and I thought I’d like to get a degree there too,” describes Maian. Maian studied Spanish language, culture and pedagogy at Tallinn University.

At the same time, Jaagup, who now has a degree in corporate finance, also defended his Baka thesis. “The plan is ready for the new year: I’m planning my first solo concert at the end of March,” describes the musician, who reveals that last year he also managed to put together his own band. At the end of March fans will probably have reason to rejoice, because Jaagup is planning his concert for then. Jaagup wants to release his debut album in the second half of the year.

Despite the fact that today young musicians with a high level of education are quite well-known names in the music scene thanks to their long work, their daily life and work are quite far from the glamor of the clan magazine. Jaagup recalls that the first meeting for the studio session with Maiani went quite well. “When Maian came to me to do a rehearsal session, I had a studio set up in the kitchen of the apartment at the time,” laughs Jaagup.

However, the atmosphere of home cooking added to the story. “That Maya sound was really beautiful there,” the musician rejoiced. Jaagup praised the duet partner, highlighting her unique timbre and style, adding that in the joint song “demon” Maian’s voice sounds a bit oriental.

However, Maian decided to take a break. “I’d like to think and concentrate for a while on what I really want to do. I really like making music, but sometimes I feel like I’ve done a lot. I don’t get tired because it’s my favorite music. What in the world, but I need space to think about what kind of music I want to make. What kind, with whom and where. I think Spain will help me figure it out,” the singer described.

Fans need not worry about this, that Maian will now fall into the lap of Spain, will no longer make music in Estonian and will disappear from the scene here altogether. “I see my life between two countries. I never see myself 100% in Estonia,” he describes himself, adding that a 50/50 life seems like an ideal solution to him at the moment: he can make music as well as study.
