The feature film “Save Me”, co-financed by the Estonian reimbursement measure Film Estonia, produced by World’s Fair Pictures and whose rights were purchased by the main sales agent Magnolia Pictures, arrives in cinemas.
Production of the film took place entirely in Estonia in 2021. The film is directed by Lee Roy Kunz, who also stars in the film, and Cru Ennis, with photography by Isaac Baumann. Apart from the directors and director of photography, the entire film crew came from Estonia and Estonian regional partners.
The actors Alexander Siddig (“Game of Thrones”, “Peaky Blinders”, “Star Trek”) and Thomas Kretschmann (“King Kong”, “Resident Evil” etc.) appear in the film, together with the Italian Maria Vera Ratti and to Estonian actor Jaune Kimmel. Furthermore, there are many other Estonian actors in the film in supporting and supporting roles. The entire selection of international actors was handled by the Estonian company Agency Icon, led by Terje Kissa and Kärt Väinola.
Attention was drawn to the film’s special makeup effects and its artists Liisi Põllumaa and Anders Bratås (Sweden), who were also nominated for the 11th annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylist Guild Awards. At the moment, the first round has been completed and makeup artists have been selected for a long list, according to which members of the local professional association will begin to vote.
The film was shot in Lagedi manor, Rogosi manor, Sagritsa museum, Maardus, Kuusalu, Suurupi, Paldiski, Kiiu-Soodla forest, Toompea in Tallinn, Volta factory, Balti station, Energia café, warehouse Edelaraudtee, in the Mustpeade house and in private apartment houses
In the film, the Vatican sends two priests to a remote monastery where a nun (Maria Vera Ratti) claims to have been impregnated by the Holy Spirit. The reason for the mission of Christian investigators is an ancient prophecy, according to which a virgin should give birth to twins, one of whom will be the new Messiah, the other the Antichrist.
