The collaboration between Lando Norris and McLaren continues | Formula sports

British formula driver Lando Norris has extended his contract with the McLaren team. His previous deal with the team expired after 2025, but the British Formula One team did not specify how long the new contract would last.

“McLaren has felt like home from day one. I’m happy to be with the people I grew up with, who helped me grow as a driver and made me the person I am today,” said Norris.

“The team is stronger than ever. I believe it is possible to win championships with them. I have prepared better than ever and I am in good shape. I feel confident in the team with McLaren. We have everything we need. That’s all okay.”

Norris, 24, has driven his entire F1 career for McLaren, first as a test driver in 2018 and as main driver from the following year. In the period 2020-2023 he stood on the podium 13 times, but never on the top step. Last year, for example, Norris finished second six times.

The McLaren-Mercedes team took fourth place last season with 302 points. In the lead were Red Bull (860), Mercedes (409) and Ferrari (406). The team’s second driver, Oscar Piastri, signed a new contract already in September last year.

The Formula 1 World Championship begins on March 2nd with the Bahrain GP.
