The FBI is investigating threats against the Colorado judges who disqualified Trump from the election

Denver police said they will deploy extra patrols near judges’ residences. The Denver office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced the help of local police, BBC News reports.

The Colorado Supreme Court last week ruled that Trump cannot run because of a provision of the U.S. Constitution that bars candidates linked to the insurrection from running.

Trump and his campaign team criticized the 4-3 decision, calling it “deeply flawed.” The campaign team vowed to appeal the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The decision was based on the 14th Amendment of the Constitution, enacted after the American Civil War to block the return of separatists to power in a reunited country.

A Colorado court ruled that Trump’s actions during the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots constituted sedition.

After news of the court’s decision broke, threats against the judges appeared online, according to Advance Democracy, a research group that monitors pro-Trump networks. Some posts contained personal information, including referees’ addresses and phone numbers.

Threats to hang and shoot judges have been posted on Xi, Telegram, Trump’s social media channel Truth Social and several extremist websites. Some have been removed, but some were still there yesterday.
