The winners of the 2023 Silver Ball and Annika were announced today. Rauno Sappinen earned the second Silver Ball of his career for the best goal of the men’s Serie A. On this occasion Annika, awarded for the best goal of the women’s A, went to Lisette Tammiku.

Sappinen’s victory came thanks to a goal scored in March, when he led the Estonian national team 1:0 against Austria in the European Championship qualifying match played in Linz in front of 16,500 spectators. 17 football journalists chose this success as the best among 33 voters.

After Sappinen, Sergei Zenjov’s goal in the friendly against Iceland earned second place, chosen as the best goal by 14 voters. Rauno Sappinen’s goal in the Azerbaijan net clinched third place.

Annika has been published by EJAK since 2020, this time Annika was therefore the fourth in history. In total, the Women’s A scored as many as 16 goals in official matches in 2023, and the best of these was the last one of the year, Lisette Tammik’s shot into the Israeli net.

With two first-place finishes, Lisette Tammik’s header against Turkey placed third. The Silver Sphere and Annika awards were created by the glass artist Eeva Käsper, who has been carrying out this work since 2005. On the ten previous occasions, the author of Hõbepalli was the ceramist Kadri Jäätma. The awarding of prizes is supported by the Estonian sports betting company Coolbet.
