The Golden Knights suffer their fourth consecutive defeat, Letang makes history | Ice Hockey

The defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights suffered their fourth consecutive NHL loss, losing 2-5 to the Anaheim Ducks on the road.

The Ducks scored four goals in the first period thanks to the precision of Brett Leason, Jamie Drysdale, Frank Vatrano and Troy Terry. Alec Martinez and Mark Stone closed the gap in the second period, but before the end of the third period, Leason scored his second goal to make it 5-2.

In the Ducks’ goal, John Gibson made 30 saves, Golden Knights goalkeeper Logan Thompson blocked 21 shots.

The Golden Knights are second in the Western Conference with 47 points, two points behind the Vancouver Canucks, who have played one fewer game. The Ducks are just 14th in the Western Conference with 26 points.

In New York, the Pittsburgh Penguins beat the Islanders 7-0 on foreign ice, Penguins defenseman Kris Letang made history. The Penguins scored six goals in the second period, five of which were assisted by Letang, never before in NHL history has a defenseman had so many assists in one third.

In the final period, Letang also assisted on the Penguins’ final goal, giving him six assists in the entire game, breaking the NHL record: he is the seventh defenseman in history to have six assists in a game.

Both Evgeni Malkin and Jake Guentzel scored two goals for the Penguins.

The Penguins are 11th in the Eastern Conference with 36 points, the Islanders are fourth with 41 points.
