An unprecedented conflict has broken out in the history of hunting in Saaremaa, in which all hunting societies in Saaremaa do not consider it possible to meet the hunting numbers set by the Environmental Board.

In July last year, hunters and landowners of the Saaremaa Hunting Council agreed to hunt at least 2,835 wild boars this hunting season, writes Saarte Hääl. On December 22, the Environment Agency increased the islanders’ hunting requirement to 3,300 pigs in accordance with the recommendation of the Environment Agency’s monitoring report.

The Saare County hunting societies want the environment commission to stick to the agreed 2,835 pigs for the summer, because they don’t think it is possible to kill 3,300 pigs.
