Ignitis Grupp announced that it has also won the auction of Liivi 1, the sea area intended for the construction of Estonia’s second offshore wind farm. The company purchases the area at the base auction price, i.e. 1,165 million euros. Another company that registered for the auction, Sunly Wind, did not submit its bid.
Ignitis Grupp announced that the Livi 1 and Livi 2 areas together form an area of approximately 193 km2 and the company sees great synergy and optimization possibilities between the two areas. Although the maximum production capacity of both areas is estimated at 2.3 gigawatts of wind energy, based on the results of the environmental impact assessment and other factors, the actual capacity is expected to be 1-1.5 gigawatts. The project is expected to launch by 2035.
Ignitis collaborates with CIP, or Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, in the construction of offshore wind farms in Estonia. The companies’ common desire is to support the Baltic countries’ carbon dioxide reduction goals and increase energy efficiency by using offshore wind energy.
