The music school band interrupted the school’s jazz

On the evening of the first day of the festival, the traditional student band competition “The beauty of the game” took place. At this competition the Pärnu Music School was represented by two groups: the band of the rhythmic music department under the leadership of teacher Erko Niidu and “Camilla & the band” under the leadership of teacher Marge Lumisalu. In addition to them, the musical group of the rhythmic music department of the Eller school and the youth group from Tartu “Kes on Artur?” also performed, offering strong competition.

The best band of the competition was awarded for the second consecutive year by the band under the supervision of Erko Niidu from the Pärnu Music School, consisting of Desire Pärn (vocals), Karl Kallastu (piano), Tuuli Põldvee (bass), Martti Tarsalainen (guitar), Rannar Luup (guitar) and Andero Tõniste (drums). . The prize consisted of recording time in the sound studio of the Viljandi Academy of Culture. The band’s bassist Tuuli Põldvee received a special personal award for his excellent and tasteful playing of the instrument.

The band led by Marge Lumisalu was noted for the best polyphonic vocals.

Masterclasses and workshops were conducted in Viljandi by the best in their field: drummer Tõnu Tubli, guitarist Marek Talts, bassist Robert Rebane, singer Maarja Soomre, pianist Themuri Sulamanidze and guitarist Ain Agan. The lecture was given by Juko-Mart Kõlar, director of the Academy of Culture of the University of Tartu.
