The seller of Europe’s finest burgers closes a store in the capital: they can no longer make ends meet

VLND burgers have been selected for several years as one of the five best burgers in Europe. Queues formed at VLND outlets following the announcement of this news. Now the economic recession requires a decisive restructuring even in the sale of the best hamburgers.

VLND Burger will close the burger stand at its Nordic facility at the end of this year, the company announced on its Facebook page. “You might be wondering why? We have to make decisions based on numbers and the math just doesn’t add up,” the post adds.

We have to make decisions based on numbers and the math just doesn’t add up,” the post adds.

One of the company’s owners, Kris Süld, explains the reasons for the decision to Ärileleh. According to him, the opening of the company in the Põhjala factory was planned from the beginning with a long payback period. The place had to justify its existence with various activities. On the one hand it was to function as a restaurant, on the other it was to serve as a kitchen for the preparation of a food truck. This year’s summer and the development of the Põhjala factory itself have shown that the function of the preparation kitchen could be used unreasonably little, says Süld. The company also has a preparation kitchen in Viljandi and it works much better, for example due to better accessibility, etc. “All this, combined with the economic situation, forced us to reconsider our previous ideas and make decisions based on opportunity,” says Süld.

The decision to close sales at the Põhjala plant was easier because the company has a very good overlap in the Kopli area thanks to the outlet in the Balti Jaama market. “The Põhjala factory itself is still a great place with nice neighbors,” confirms Süld. “The fact that things didn’t go as we would have liked there doesn’t reflect the real potential of the region,” he adds.

VLND Burger has no plans to close any more locations. According to Sülla, the momentum gained at Lõunakeskus in Tartu this autumn is better than ever. The Balti Jaama Market outlet also operates regularly.

VLND Burger will not remain with just one outlet in Tallinn for long. The new Burgs location is scheduled to open on Valentine’s Day next year. However, Süld’s location has not yet been revealed.
