The Toyota GR Yaris facelift brought more power, an automatic transmission and many minor updates

Additionally, power from the 1.6-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine has increased from 261 horsepower to 280, and torque has increased by 30 lb-ft to 390. Toyota also claims that powertrain durability has been improved, as the updated engine it has already been used in the Japanese Rally Championship and endurance events.

The structural rigidity of the GR Yaris has been improved thanks to 13% more sections spot welding welding points and 24% more glue was also used in the construction. Additionally, the front shock absorbers are attached to the car with multiple bolts.

In the case of the updated sedan, all differential locks and larger brakes, which until now were included in the “Circuit Pack” option, are already standard. Already on the used car market it can be clearly seen that a large number of GR Yaris were purchased with the “Circuit Pack” add-on, so it seems like a wise move on Toyota’s part.

The car still weighs less than 1300 kg, more precisely 1280 kg, but only if you choose the manual gearbox. An additional 20 kg is supplied with the machine.

In appearance, the car is very similar to the original GR Yaris. The main sign that this is an updated model is the larger front grille, behind which a heat sink with the inscription “GR Four” is visible. The model update can also be recognized by the position of the central brake light, which is no longer located on the rear wing, but on the trunk, under the rear window.

One change that may not be obvious to the eye is the change to the front bar, which is now split into three pieces. The aim is to make it easier and cheaper to replace the front bar if it is damaged, as hopefully it will not be necessary to replace the entire front bar, but part of it.
