The VHK string orchestra has completed a disc with the composition of Ester Mägi | Music

The Vanalinna Hariduskollegium string orchestra under the direction of Rasmus Puur has finished its fourth album, which features arrangements of choral and chamber music by Ester Mägi.

The album and the album presentation concerts will present, for example, “Six Estonian folk songs”, originally composed for violin and piano, as well as choral works such as “Siin mu ľurdumaa”, “Kerkokell” and “Pieta”.

The musical selection collected on the disc reflects the composer’s handwriting over several decades. Many of the arrangements were made just for this record.

“This album is a jewel in the sense that when we listen to Ester Mägi’s music, she is very personal, she is very subtle, she is very gentle, very feminine in the best sense of the word, but at the same time she can be very strong, very emotional, but it never goes too far,” said VHK string orchestra conductor Rasmus Puur. “As a person, as far as I remember him, he was very delicate and sober, but at the same time such a creative child, and that nature was always in his eyes, that light was there, and I hope that this light is also present in this record. “

The orchestra presents the album with concerts, the tour starts in Tartu and continues to Mustvee and Tallinn.
