Two strong quarters led TalTech to victory over Viims | basketball

Three Estonian clubs played in the Estonian-Latvian basketball championship on Wednesday. TalTech defeated Viims 88:70, at the red light in the ranking Tallinna Kalev had to admit the superiority of Riga Zell 89:64.

TalTech won the second quarter against Viims 31:15 and allowed the home team to score only eight points in the final period. Oliver Metsalu scored 21 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists for the winners, Artem Kovalov’s 29 points and ten rebounds didn’t save Viims either.

Tallinna Kalev played fifth-placed Riia Zell in a draw until half-time. At the beginning of the third quarter the score of the hosts was four points, but Zelli then made an intermediate spurt of 9: 2 and then went his way.

Brandis Raley-Ross brought Kalev 16 points, James Moore achieved a double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Davids Viksne, who scored 23 points, emerged as the top scorer.

After winning their last two games, TalTech is seventh this season with ten wins and eight losses, and Wednesday’s loss to Kalev was already their sixteenth in a row.
