Ukraine’s largest passenger plane successfully took off from Boryspil

At the request of the Ukrainian airline Skyline Express, a Boeing 777-300ER plane from Boryspil was transported to a European airport. The flight met the highest aviation and flight safety standards in accordance with the directives in force during the introduction of martial law in Ukraine, UNIAN reports.

Since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion on February 24, 2022, Ukrainian airspace has been closed and planes have been parked. According to the airport’s press service, the Skyline Express aircraft underwent frequent overhauls.

It was noted that this was already the fourth successful takeoff from Borõspil Airport since the beginning of the war.

Andri Sõbiha, deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said in early December that Boryspil Airport will be the first civilian airport to be opened for flights, if the necessary conditions are met.

Mykhailo Podoljak, chief adviser to the president’s office, said that Ukraine will not open Boryspil airport until the main problem, which includes reducing the intensity of Russian airstrikes, is resolved.

“Preparation can continue, it is already underway, including in Borõspil. But security issues should be addressed more comprehensively and importantly. Ukraine is dealing with it now,” he said.
