Uku Suviste, Stefan and Angus are coming home! The European Capital of Culture begins with the opening festivities in southern Estonia

The arrival of the year of the title of capital of culture is heralded by the whole of southern Estonia. The program includes over a thousand events throughout the year, everyone will surely find something they like. The inauguration in Tartu will be preceded and followed by pre- and post-celebrations in Viljandi, Valga, Võru and Põlva.

In the dead of winter, an eight-member band will take to the stage in southern Estonia Anguswhich adds summer to winter camo reggae– AND Want– music. At the opening of the capital of culture, they join forces with a local star from each country to bring audiences their beloved stories in a new six.

Inauguration of Tartu 2024 in Valga on January 5th at 7.00 pm

The honor of the first celebration of the European Capital of Culture goes to Valga County. The parishes of Valga, Tõrva and Otepää join together to start the celebration and ceremonially inaugurate the capital of culture in Valga County.

Angus is joined on stage by a jazz talent with roots in Valga Karmen clothing manufacturer, who has been active in Denmark for the last ten years and was awarded the title of best jazz composer in Denmark for the disc “Ambivalence” recorded there this year with the Aarhus Jazz Orchestra. The same award was awarded to the musician in Estonia this year. Now she returns to his hometown to attract the ears of the people of Valga with his soothing voice.

The border town Valga is also crowded with our Latvian neighbors. DJ Magnuss Eriņš takes to the stage and puts his dancing shoes on the beat.

Tartu 2024 opens in Viljandi on January 12 at 7pm

On January 12th the city of Viljandi will take the baton for the opening of the year as European Capital of Culture. The big party makes the central square of Viljandi resonate. Angus will be joined by a man from Viljandi, crowned Male Artist of 2023 Stephen, which brings its greatest radio hits to the stage of the European capital of culture. Stefan’s Southern temperament and personal, powerful voice won’t leave any cultural capital cold.

Tartu 2024 opens in Võru on January 19 at 7pm

The opening of the European Capital of Culture title year is gaining momentum. The parishes of Antsla, Rõuge, Setomaa and Võru and the city of Võru invite everyone to participate probably from marriage from an outdoor party.

Angus is joined by a traditional musician born and raised in Põlva Meelika Hainsoo, who is a promoter of Estonian folk culture.
