Video: Anier scored a goal and provided an assist, but missed on penalties and Lee Man lost the final – Soccernet.ee

Estonian international striker Henri Anier’s home club Lee Man Warriors blew a 2-0 lead in the HKPL cup series final and lost to Kitchee on penalties after the match ended 2 -2.

Lee Man took the lead in the second minute when Anier scored from a teammate’s pass from seven metres. Five minutes later, Anier assisted Gil Martins’ goal and Lee Man was already leading 2-0. The two-goal lead quickly melted away as Kitchee responded with two goals in seven minutes to level the score at 2-2 in the 14th minute.

Since no more goals were scored in regular time, the winner was determined in a penalty shootout, where Kitchee asserted his superiority. Lee Man started the penalty shootout and the first striker was Anier, but the recently converted 33-year-old Estonian international striker hit the ball beyond the frame. This remained the only penalty shootout error and Kitchee won 5–4.

Lee Man’s season will resume on February 3 when he faces Hong Kong FC at home in the domestic Premier League. Lee Man leads the standings after eight rounds, three points ahead of defending champions Kitchee.

Anier scored six goals in eight league games, sharing third and fourth place with Everton teammate Camargo in the goalscorers list.
