James hit all four long shots in the semifinals and had 30 points, five rebounds and eight assists in 22 minutes of play. Anthony Davis, author of a double-double, contributed to the victory with 16 points and 15 rebounds.
New Orleans won the first quarter 30-29, but James scored the Lakers’ first 11 points early in the second quarter, hitting three consecutive long-range shots. The 38-year-old James already had 21 points at halftime and hasn’t been on the court since midway through the third quarter. At the start of the decisive period, the Lakers already led 110:71.
In the final the Lakers will face the Indiana Pacers, who beat the Milwaukee Bucks 128-119 in the other semifinal.
Tyrese Haliburton led the Pacers with 27 points and 15 assists. The Bucks weren’t even saved by their star John Antetokounmpo’s 37 points and 10 rebounds.
