Passengers Stranded on African Island After Cruise Ship Leaves Port Without Them to be Reimbursed

A group of eight passengers, including Americans Jill and Jay Campbell from South Carolina, found themselves stranded on an African island after their cruise ship, the Norwegian Dawn, left the port without them. However, the cruise line has vowed to reimburse them for some of the costs they incurred while trying to make it back onto the ship.
The ordeal began when the group attempted to board the ship at a port in Gambia. They had traveled 15 hours through six countries to reach the port, only to discover that low tides prevented the ship from docking. Undeterred, they boarded a bus and took a ferry across a river in their desperate attempt to catch up with their cruise liner.
