In Germany, politicians have been attacked again, less than a week after a politician from the German SPD in Dresden was severely abused. It concerns an SPD senator and former mayor in Berlin, and a Green Party politician in Dresden.
Former Berlin mayor Franziska Giffey was walking around a library in the Rudow district yesterday afternoon when she was suddenly attacked by a man. He attacked her from behind with a bag filled with hard contents, according to the police and the Public Prosecution Service. The man hit her on the head and neck. She was treated in hospital for minor injuries.
The suspect then fled, but the police have not said whether he has since been arrested. No information is also shared about the man’s motive.

According to a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report, the SBU claimed to have prevented a Russian assassination attempt attempting to attack the motorcade carrying President Zelensky with missiles and drones.
The SBU explained that Russia had planned to attack the vehicle carrying President Zelensky and others several times and that it intended to launch a missile attack once President Zelensky’s location was discovered by an insider.
The SBU added that Russia had carefully prepared an assassination operation, including launching an FPV drone attack on survivors of the first missile attack and then planning a second missile attack.
The SBU later revealed text messages and photos obtained during the investigation, an interview with an arrested suspect and wiretap data, and said it had arrested two senior officials from Ukraine’s Ministry of State Security who had been in close contact with the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).
The SBU revealed that an arrested State Security official had agreed to receive more than $50,000 from FSB agents in exchange for location information, but only mentioned his identity as a colonel-level official.
