Aniko began coaching the Estonian beach team, which wants to focus on tactical issues – Soccernet.ee

Andreas Aniko (44) started working at the beginning of January as coach of the Estonian beach football team.

Aleksei Galkin’s four-year stint as head coach ended last year. Under Galkin’s leadership, the team wrote history, reaching the B division of the Euroleague in Serie A and confirming itself there. Last year, Estonia finished the Euroleague superfinal in 10th place.

“We sincerely thank Aleksei for the work done! What has been achieved in recent years is historic and Aleksei will deliver the Estonian men’s beach football team in good condition,” said Anne Rei, general secretary of the Estonian Football Federation (EJL).

New coach Aniko worked as a beach football player from 2004-2023, representing the teams Unibet/Nõmme Kalju and Nõmme BSC Olybet. During this period, Aniko was crowned champion of Estonia six times: in 2008-2011, 2017 and 2022. Since 2016, Aniko has worked as a coach at the club Nõmme BSC, during which time she led the club to two championships.

Aniko was part of the first team of the Estonian beach team and represented the team in 2007-2015. In nine years, the defender recorded 56 games and 17 goals.

“Andreas Aniko has been through all the paths of Estonian beach football for 20 years, and reaching the position of head coach is a natural continuation of things. His knowledge and experience bring freshness and a new approach to the team. We wish Andreas much success in his new position and a successful year for the beach team,” Rei said.

According to Aniko, being the national coach is a great honor. The coach’s goal for the new year is to reach higher in Europe than the previous year. “The current team has more potential than the results show. In 2023, they were able to show their teeth to the best teams in Europe, but this year the goal is to bite them and reach a place higher than 10th in Europe “Aniko said.

This year the team awaits both Euroleague and World Cup qualifiers. According to the new coach it is important to focus on the tactical side to achieve our goals. “I watched the team’s previous matches and analyzed them carefully. We want to pay attention to the little things, especially tactical ones, that will influence the result. We need to play intelligently and see how to turn the end of the match in our favor, and not give them to opponent,” Aniko said.

The Estonian beach team will begin preparations for the season as early as next week.
