ATTENTION ⟩ Scams spreading in the name of McDonald’s Estonia

Ads from shadow accounts offering excellent meals for just a few euros are spreading on the social platforms Instagram and Facebook. By clicking on the fake ad, the customer is asked to provide personal information and debit or credit card details, and once payment is made, the food is promised to be delivered to a specific address. The food is not delivered to the customer and a larger amount than promised is deducted from the bill, BNS reports.

McDonald’s informed the police of the situation and asked them to block the corresponding content, but the problem persists.

“We remind you that McDonald’s food can only be ordered from the restaurant, from the official McDonald’s app or from the apps of our partners, the food couriers Wolt and Bolt. Our official website is www.mcdonalds.ee and all related information you can only find campaigns on this page. Therefore, when you click on an advert, carefully check the web address to which you are directed. If you are a victim of such a scam, contact the police”, said Vladimir Janevski, administrator delegate from McDonald’s Baltics.
