The emergency center received a report about the accident which occurred at the 172nd kilometer of the Tallinn-Pärnu-Ikla road around 4.30 pm.

The driver of the Citroen coming from the opposite direction went off the road to avoid a collision.

“Fortunately no one was injured in the accident,” police confirmed.

The camp manager added that the cab of the truck and the trailer collided, as a result of which the fuel tank was damaged and started leaking, but rescuers managed to stop the leak. The drivers were sober and had the right to drive, he noted.

The road conditions at the accident site were winter, the road was salted. The maximum speed allowed on this stretch was 90 km/h.

Tilk added that the weather forecast for the next few days promises that weather conditions will remain wintry and roads may be slippery. “Allow time to drive and choose a speed that is appropriate for road and weather conditions. This way we can all get home safely.”

Update at 7pm. The collision between a truck and a car was initially reported to the emergency room.
