Brussels tries to attract young people to the polls with the help of Taylor Swift | foreign country

The European Commission fears that too few young people will vote for the European Parliament and Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas now wants to convince young people to vote with the help of pop star Taylor Swift.

“No one can mobilize young people better than other young people, that’s how it works,” Schinas said.

Schinas then came up with Swift’s name. “Just as an example. Last September, Taylor Swift urged young Americans to register to vote. The day after she took office, 35,000 young Americans registered to vote,” Schinas said.

“I really hope someone on his team watches this press conference and passes our request on to him,” Schinas said.

Parliamentary elections will be held from 6 to 9 June in all 27 countries of the European Union. Schinas said high voter turnout among young people is crucial for democracy.

Swift will begin a tour of Europe in spring 2024 and will perform in Paris on May 9. Schinas recalled that then it is also Europe Day.

The popularity of the American musician is growing in the world, politicians are now trying to use Swift in front of the electoral bandwagon.

Swift’s “The Eras” tour turned out to be a real success, and ticket sales had a real impact on the US economy. According to Forbes magazine, the musician became a billionaire this year, recently Times magazine chose Swift as its person of the year.
