in stable periods, energy price growth can be predicted with a ruler

If no extreme events occur in the world, the increase in energy prices can be predicted with a sovereign, noted Karl Kull, CEO of the energy company Evecon, in the “Energiatund” program on the stability of the Estonian electricity system.

However, according to Kulli, the exceptional year 2022 has shown how sensitive the energy market can be. “During a stable period, the increase in energy prices remains stable,” Kull explained. “Before 2022, the price of energy increased relatively stably at up to 5% per year for 10 to 15 years.”

The main theme of the show is the stability and functioning of the Estonian electricity system after desynchronization from the Russian grid in 2025. In collaboration with a French company, Evecon is building two battery parks in Estonia with a total capacity of 400 MWh, and in First part of the show we will find out from the company’s CEO, Karl Kull, why such a project is undertaken.

Alexela’s manager, Marti Hääl, also expresses his opinion on the stability of the electricity system in the program, according to which the probability that Russia wants to desynchronize the Estonian electricity grid before the deadline is decreasing. “I believe that if our neighbor to the east had a plan in advance to forcibly desynchronize us as punishment, he would have already done so, because the longer the day passes, the less effect it will have on us.”

The topics discussed on the show concern, among other things, the frequency of the Estonian electricity grid, its capacity, the possibilities of cheaper electricity consumption and also what the consumer himself can do to reduce electricity costs by a third.
