Austin, hospitalized for nearly a week in the intensive care unit, currently manages the defense capabilities of a large country essentially from a hospital bed.
Austin, who was taken by ambulance to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in suburban Washington on New Year’s Day due to a mysterious illness, was released from intensive care on Monday, but the 70-year-old minister remains hospitalized.
