Russia wants evidence of an object entering Polish airspace

According to the Polish Defense Forces, an unidentified object moved 40 kilometers into Polish airspace on Friday, before moving away a few minutes later and disappearing from radar. The object came from Ukraine, the Associated Press reports.

The head of the Polish Armed Forces, General Wiesław Kukuła, said that everything indicated that it was a Russian missile.

The Polish Foreign Ministry has asked Moscow for explanations about the incident. Russia’s chargé d’affaires in Warsaw, Andrei Ordash, told Russian state news agency RIA Novosti on Saturday that Poland’s claims were “unfounded.”

“We will not give any explanations until we are presented with concrete evidence, because these accusations are unfounded,” Ordash said.

A search for traces and evidence relating to the object was carried out on Saturday in the area between the city of Zamosc and the border with Ukraine, involving around 500 soldiers from the Polish Territorial Guard.

However, the search yielded no results, according to officials nothing unusual was found.
