Three Estonian badminton players made it to the main table of the National Badminton Tournament

The phase of the Badminton European Cup began on Thursday in the Kalevi sports hall with the qualifying tournament, where several Estonian players also tried to get into the main table.

In the women’s singles Helis Pajustel managed to fight for the only place in the main ranking. In the third decisive match of the qualifying competition, she defeated Ramona Üprus 22:20, 21:5. Catlyn Kruus also reached the decisive round, who unfortunately had to admit the superiority of the English Leona Lee 21:14, 21:15, reports badminton.ee.

Tauri Kilki’s opponent in the men’s singles was Manrja Singh of India. Kilk showed strong resistance to his opponent, but still had to accept a narrow defeat 23:25, 18:21. Singh also defeated his next two opponents to secure a spot in the main event.

In the mixed doubles, Estonians Hugo Themas and Marelle Salu, who took to the court on Thursday, made it to the main competition, beating the Dutch Rune Van Dalm and Latvia Darta Alise Demitere 21:12, 21:11.

Andrei Schmidt and Emili Pärsim defeated the Latvian couple Arturs Kelpe – Anna Kupca 21:17, 21:14. However, in the decisive match, they had to accept a defeat 18:21, 21:18, 16:21 by the Spanish pair Rodrigo Sanjurjo – Nikol Carulla. Rasmus Roogsoo and Lumikki Liias lost to Scots Angus Meldrum and Rachel Sugden 17:21, 11:21.
