AS Õhtuleht Kirjastus, 50% owned by AS Ekspress Grupp, has signed an agreement to acquire a 100% stake in AS Express Post. Until now Express Post has been equally owned by two of Estonia’s largest media companies, AS Ekspress Grupp and AS Postimees Grupp.
The owners of Express Post, which delivered printed publications to homes across Estonia, decided to close the home delivery business earlier this year. The company continued to operate as a call center and provider of print subscriber management services for news publications.
“The acquisition of Express Post helps strengthen Õhtuleht Kirjastuse’s ability to offer order center services to other media companies as well. The sale of Express Post shares is in line with Ekspress Grupp’s long-term strategy, according to which we have decided to abandon the home delivery business and focus on growing the digital revenue base,” said Mari-Liis Rüütsalu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ekspress Group.
