Vlhova won her third slalom of the season, Shiffrin broke | Alpine skiing

The Slovakian Petra Vlhova (1:47.62) won the slalom of the women’s Alpine skiing World Cup stage in Kranjska Gora, ahead of the German Lena Dürr (+0.72) and the American AJ Hurt (+0.87) .

The 28-year-old Vlhova took the lead after the first run, preceding Dürr and Croatian Leona Popovic by 26 hundredths. Her workday was made easier by the fact that her main competitor Mikaela Shiffrin (USA) stopped by.

With the second descent, Vlhova increased her success, and the remaining six athletes after the first three lost to her by more than a second: the Swiss Camille Rast (+1.17), the American Paula Moltzan (+ 1.23) the fifth, and the Swedish Sara Hector (+1) the sixth.38). Popovic fell to 11th place (+2.16).

For Vlhova, the total success was the third this season in slalom, and during her career she achieved a total of 22 MK stage victories in this discipline. Only Shiffrin (56), Marlies Schild (Austria; 35) and Vreni Schneider (Switzerland; 34) managed to do more.

Shiffrin still leads the MK series in slalom, but Vlhova only came within five eyes of him. In the overall score, the American’s success is more certain: 929 points against Vlhova’s 722. The third is the Italian Federica Brignone with 697 eyes.

The women’s MK alpine skiing series continues from January 12th to 14th in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee (Austria), where two super-giants and one downhill are scheduled.
