With Enefit Volt, an electric car charging station is closer than ever

In the past, the wider adoption of electric cars has been held back by higher costs and limited driving range. The latest technological developments show that more and more electric car models are being added to the market, which can be compared to internal combustion engine vehicles both in terms of price and range.

However, charging availability, in other words, the number and location of charging points and the ability to choose between different charging speeds, raises questions. Currently, around 6,800 electric cars are registered in Estonia. According to a Norstat survey conducted in 2022, 36% of Estonian residents agree that the transition to electric cars would be accelerated by increased availability of charging stations. It is for the latter that Enefit Volt’s work continues every day.

Electric car charging regardless of time and place

With its activities, Enefit Volt hopes to offer both current and future owners of electric cars the feeling of security that charging is always within reach. If you think about the most important centres, there are already 28 charging points in Tartu, 14 in Pärnu, 8 in Viljandi and 8 in Kuressaare, and more than double that in the surrounding counties. Not to mention Tallinn, where you can find chargers on almost every corner.

To create a comprehensive charging infrastructure, existing charging points are renovated and new ones are built. The focus is not only on the size of the network, but also on strong coverage, which means that in addition to strategic and densely populated city neighborhoods, charging points will also be installed in rural areas and close to major highways.

You can save time by combining uploading with your daily tasks

In the development of the fast charging network, new and faster chargers are mainly installed where they are needed most. At this point, collaboration with localization partners, whose assets are invested in the form of a charging solution, plays an important role. This way, more charging stations reach, for example, offices, restaurants and shopping centers. It offers added value to both customers and employees by allowing you to charge your car while shopping or working.

This year, for example, Enefit collaboratively created pricing solutions for the properties of domestic and foreign companies such as Rimi, Selver, Arsenal and Norfa. The capacity of the charging stations to be installed varies from 22 to 360 kW, offering both semi-fast, fast and ultra-fast charging. While with rapid chargers it is possible to charge 100 km on average in 30 minutes, with ultra-fast chargers it takes less than ten minutes.

Everyone can now calculate for themselves how much they drive during the week and how many times they visit a large grocery store, shopping center, movie theater or other entertainment venue that already has a fast or very fast charging option. Even if you drive more, charging an electric car is easy to integrate into your daily activities and, ultimately, cleaner and more economical than a conventional vehicle.

You can quickly and easily find the nearest Enefit Volt charger on our public charging network map.
