The popular vote selection “Song Elmari 2023” included songs that this year remained in the top three positions of the “Eesti lugude edetabel” program for six or more weeks. A large number of people took part in the vote: around 7,352 music lovers from all over Estonia and beyond.

2 Quick Start singer Pearu Paulus shared his joy at the support of listeners in an interview on Elmar radio and stressed that the award is special precisely because the choice was made by the people. “What matters to me is that this award is given to you by listeners, not by some experts.” According to Paulus, “Rissteel” is a story that was waiting for his time and was born in the times of the crown.

The popularity of the band, which has enchanted national audiences for decades, does not seem to be diminishing. In addition to their popularity on the radio, this was also demonstrated by the multi-hour jubilee concert at the Unibet Arena which delighted almost 10,000 people. “It was a very good year for our ensemble and I agree that a good point was made with a great concert. I also want to thank the people who were there to listen, it was really something special,” said Paulus .

Andres Panksepp, editor-in-chief of Radio Elmar, had only words of praise for the winning band and added that the band has maintained its level of excellence for 30 years. “The song “Crossroads” is an excellent example of today’s high-quality Estonian dance music. Pearu Paulus, Ilmar Laisaar and Alar Kotkas, who have been leading the band together for decades, are a powerful example of how Estonians are able to pursue ceaselessly a common cause and to succeed.”

The “Elmari Song 2023” award trophy was created by glass artist Eeva Käsper. It was delivered to Pearu Paulus by presenters Kirsti Timmer and Henri Laumets.
